VIRTUAL CONFERENCE l Expanding Africa’s Vaccine Manufacturing

VIRTUAL CONFERENCE l Expanding Africa’s Vaccine Manufacturing

12 & 13 April:

07:00 São Paulo | 12:00 Paris | 13:00 Nairobi | 15:30 New Delhi | 17:00 Bangkok
(6h, both days)

A critical lesson that Africa has learned from the COVID-19 pandemic is the need to invest in and build its own capacity and capabilities for manufacturing of vaccines.

The continent’s low manufacturing capability exposes Africans to supply chain risks such as the one experienced with the current COVID-19 vaccine challenges. Expanding African manufacturing will clearly have a significant public health impact and economic benefits for the continent.

Against this background, His Excellency Moussa Faki Mahamat, Chairperson of the African Union Commission, will be convening a virtual conference to be co-chaired by H.E. Félix Tshisekedi, President of the Democratic Republic of Congo and Chairperson of the African Union, and H.E. Cyril Ramaphosa, President of the Republic of South Africa, to discuss expanding Africa’s vaccine manufacturing to achieve a New Public Health Order for its health and economic security.

The conference will inform the African Union in charting a vision and roadmap to accelerating African vaccine manufacturing.
